Fall Yard Prep

As the temperatures start to dip and the leaves begin to change, it’s time to gear up for Fall pest-proofing around your home!

To start preparing we recommend visually inspecting the outside of your property. Look for any gaps, cracks, or openings in the foundation, the roof line, the siding, and around windows and doors. Sealing these entry points is crucial in keeping rodents and insects at bay (as well as reducing energy costs). Additionally, trim any overhanging branches and bushes near your home, as these provide easy access for pests to access your roof and attic space.

Fall is also the perfect time for yard cleanup. Clear away debris, such as fallen leaves and grass clippings, which can provide a cozy nesting spot for crawling insects. Make sure to keep firewood and compost piles at a safe distance from your home to deter rodents and roaches seeking shelter.

To further fortify your defenses, consider investing in a perimeter pest control treatment. These treatments create a barrier around your home, preventing pests from making their way inside. Focus on treating around the foundation, windows, and doors. When it comes to your lawn, choose pest-resistant plants and avoid overwatering, as standing water can attract unwanted pests. Lastly, keep outdoor trash bins tightly sealed, as rodents are attracted to food sources.

By taking these proactive measures, you’ll be well on your way to enjoying a pest-free home for the holidays. Remember, a little preparation now can go a long way in keeping your home comfortable and pest-free throughout the fall and winter seasons.
